What are the dorm rooms where we stay? Housing for 2018.
This year we will be in the Comstock House on the hill above the main campus. Comstock is a dorm environment with shared facilities. The basement is air conditioned but has communal bathroom and shower facilities. The first and second floor are not air conditioned and have single rooms with a shared bath-room in between two rooms. Registrar assigns rooms and every effort is made to accommodate any requests made for roommates or special circumstances. PLEASE CONTACT LINDA ASAP IF YOU HAVE A PREFERENCE TO WHAT TYPE OF ROOM YOU WANT!! Bed linen and a towel and facecloth are provided but no toiletries. For your room you may want to bring extra towels, facecloths, soap and a fan or small air conditioner. Many people also like to bring their own pillows. There are no lockers available and you are responsible for your own equipment. Your key will open the main building door and your room door inside only.
What's a scholarship and how do I get one? Scholarships are available to Professional Photographer Society of New York State (PPSNYS) members or their employees only.
Can I change to a different class? Yes. Any time prior to the workshop you may change instructors providing there is room in their class for you.
What happens if I have to cancel at the last minute? If for any reason you have to cancel after the refund cut off date, all monies paid will be applied towards next years workshop. The $100.00 retainer is non refundable.
What do I need to bring? For your class, that will depend on the instructor. For yourself we suggest you bring your own toiletries along with an extra bath towel. While the units provide a towel and wash cloth and a single bunk style bed, remember they are still college housing and not a hotel.
How do I get help while I'm at the school? Check with any PPSNYS Workshop Trustee or teachers assistant. They can help you with your needs.
What do I do if I get there late or can't get there until later after check in? If you are not able to make it before the registration cut off you can still check in. If you arrive during the wine and cheese party or dinner or at Comstock on Sunday, ask for Linda Hutchings. She can get your room key, shirt, and anything else you may need. If it's late at night, follow the information in your student manual by contacting security at the college.
Can I use a video camera in class? No video capture of any kind is allowed in any class room even with the instructors permission. This is a rule of the PPSNYS Workshop and will be strictley enforced. Still cameras and audio recording is allowed as long as the instructor has no objections.
Can I bring my spouse, children, others to workshop? Yes, but they will not be allowed to go to the classes with you. Only fully registered paid students are allowed in the class rooms.
